WATCH IT ON CATCH UP NOW

Children with disabilities shared a stage with dads doing duets with daughters.

Co-founder of the Sex Pistols, Glen Matlock brought some punk attitude in a set with Earl Slick, David Bowie’s guitarist and the Kemp brothers told us how a 10 drama club literally ‘changed their lives’. See film here.

It was a truly wonderful weekend, but don’t worry if you missed it. We filmed, live streamed and have archived all the action from the 3 days which you can access below:

A day for all our young people to inspire them to aim higher than high in life. We leaned how to make a cardboard pyramid stage and create plays. We had a thought provoking chat about education and heard from Robert Elms before an evening of music kicked off by Lennie and a #BlackLivesMatter evening of art, memories and music.

To inspire mums and dads and other creative carers across the country to be our best for all our kids.

The spirit of Punk 1.0 was showcased in a headline set from Glen Matlock, Co-founder of the Sex Pistols and Earl Slick who was David Bowei’s guitarist. Up and coming songstress Emily Capell represented Punk 2.0 and Wales’ Martyn Joseph sang some Rebellion Songs.

WHAT A WEEKEND

We built it, a temple to our art, and they came.

Yes a few dads, artists and other Creative Carers knocked up a Pretend Pyramid Stage in a school playing fields, inspired by Glastonbury Festival’s very own beacon of creativity to the world that was standing idle in a nearby field.

Created in Cardboard and monster loo roll tubes with The #ArtofCode by a very clever and creative dad ,Damon, it was the centre piece of our second of five, three day #ArtOfCommunity20 Free Festivals supported by LGfL and the Arts Council with public funding from the National Lottery.

It went a little like this:

  • INSPIRING TALKS - From #ARTofACTIVISM to The #ARTofTEACHING and #FirePitChats every evening hosted by Chris Sullivan with people like the Kemp brothers and Don Letts

  • UPLIFTING PERFORMANCES - Lennie, an 8 years old from Yorkshire, didn’t let his Cerebral Palsy and Hydrocephalus stop him blowing the roof off our Pyramind stage. We quite liked the set by former Sex Pistol, Glen Matlock and Bowie’s former guitarist, Earl Slick too!

  • CREATIVE ACTIVITIES - we learned how to make our own cardboard Pyramid stage with #ARTofCARDBOARD expert Will Alexander and drew with the Observer’s Political Cartoonist Chris Riddell.

  • COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - you had to be there for the #CoDrumCircle led by Rockstar Activator Tom Morley right after the #LittleBigLunch we held outside our houses to connect with our neighbours now we’ve stopped Clapping For Carers.

YOU HAD TO BE THERE

But there was a lot on telly (The BBC ran some great Glasto repeats all weekend) and Netflix just keep coming up with boxsets to binge on don’t they.

But don’t worry, it’s all here below.

And we’re doing it again - next stop #ArtTownTakeOver at Camp Bestival end July, then The #ArtOfGaz at Notting Hill Carnival end August then the #ArtofParklands Primary on the Seacroft Estate in Leeds end September

WHERE LOVE LIVES

Who doesn’t love Glasto, who is human?

In our humble opinion it’s the ultimate celebration of what it means to be human.

The ultimate celebration of Our Art given that we see Art as what connects us.

Art is the killer combo of Creativity, Tools and People.

Creativity oozes out of every orifice at Glasto and whether the tool is a Fender Stratocaster, a pot of paint, some bent willow or the latest cutting edge tech for the headliner set, it attracts some of the most wonderful people on and off main stage and in the mosh pits.

But now thanks to that technology, the audience is on the stage and wants to be part of the show.

And can be thanks to our Community Lock In.

Becasue that’s what #YourGlasto : #MyGlasto : #OurGlasto is all about.

You. And…

YOUR ART FESTIVAL

An Art Festival for the People, By the People, with The People. Check these images from our Weekend at Eden Project.

A three day Celebration of what Creativity, People, Tools and People can do, building on our weekend at Eden Project:.

  • FRI 26TH : KID’S DAY : a day for all our young people to inspire them to aim higher than high in life.

  • SAT 27TH : CARERS DAY : to inspire mums and dads and other creative carers across the country to be our best for all our kids.

  • SUN 28TH : GRAND FOLKS DAY : it takes a whole village and seniors everywhere have so much to give us all

LITTLE BIG LUNCH - Sunday afternoon will see us all go outside and eat our lunch where we used to stand on a Thursday night to #ClapForOurCarers. We have the perfect sound track lined up for that too!

TEN THEMES

The weekend will break out across ten key theme areas:

  • CREATIVITY - talks and activities to remind us what it looks and feels like and why it’s important

  • COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS - sessions inspired by the Community Activity Camps run at Eden Project

WHAT’S YOUR ART? Download our template, join our global campaign, print it on a t-shirt here

  • ART ACTIVISM - tips and tricks in talks and workshops on how you can change the world

  • ECO AWARENESS - where better than Eden Project to reconnect our planet and how we might start doing things differently

  • SLOW FOOD - we’ve never had more time, and possibly less money, so why don’t we look at food again?

  • MAKER CULTURE - there’s a lot of talk about the ‘Three R’s’, but the fourth R is Wroughting - making. Let’s Create

  • COLLABORATIVE MUSIC - Live Aid was yesterday with the band on the stage. Now the audience makes music

  • EDUCATION - Is Creativity as Important as Literacy? Are we teaching it out of our kids? How’s your home schooling?

  • SONG OF THE DAY - we have an anthem for each Day - ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’, ‘I Will Survive’ and ‘All Together Now’

  • BEER FESTIVAL - we hope you don’t mind, but we’ll stop and savour a beer every once in a while

Talkin’ about a Revolution

Inspired by Darren Henley of Arts Council England, we want to launch a #CreativityRevolution at Your Glasto

Inspired by the second coming of Sir Bob Geldof and The Boomtown Rats we want to tap into the spirit of Punk 1.0 - the #ARTofPUNK - and give our kids and young people the inspiration, agency and encouragement to be Punk 2.0

We’re not letting anyone slaughter our kids’ dreams. We want them to aim higher than high. To find their passion. Their art.

We have the ultimate headline acts for that.
