Event overview

From Woodie Guthrie to Stormzy, music and words have long been the language of rebellion, of our rebels, those among us who push back against the status quo, the people Jack Kerouac called 'The Crazy Ones', the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world. The ones who do.

Join us for an evening of chat and music from and with a few of the rebels, the punks who dared to help change the world. And did.

GLEN MATLOCK - co-founder of the Sex Pistols and wrote ten of the twelve songs on their debut album ‘Never Mind the bollocks, here’s the Sex Pistols’. He has since toured and played with many of the world’s most famous musicians and his current band Slinky Vagabond numbers David Bowie’s guitarist Earl Slick, Blondie’s Clem Burke, and Keanan Duffty.

CHRIS SULLIVAN - an author, artist, lecturer and impresario, Chris is one of the most authentic and biggest names in the London and UK youth culture scene, having literally helped create it. A student at St Martin’s College of Art, in 1984 he was asked to help redesign a seedy Soho nightclub called Whisky a Go Go. He renamed it as The Wag and ran it for several decades and essentially created club culture as we know it today. His book Rebel Rebel documents his relationships with some of the world’s biggest hell raisers and change makers. It was the subject of a 15 page review in GQ magazine by their Editor in Chief with photographs by David Bailey, a true testament to Chris’s influence, vision, and connections.

PIGDAZE - we’ll chat with Fred Ward one time member of the ground breaking band ‘The Virgin Destoyers’ who will go down in the history books for their epic gig supporting The Exhumed and a fledgling Carol Decker, Fred is now band leader for Pigdaze who we are sure won’t be able to resist giving us a taste of their Punk Skiffle vibes to kick the evening off.

Chaired by NICK CORSTON - a dad, co-founder of STEAM Co. Patron of Ludlow Fringe 21, art activist and one time roadie and sound engineer for The Exhumed who has waited over 40 years for this evening.

This will be an interactive event. We want to hear form our audience with their memories and stories, both on the night and in the weeks leading up so do share your photos and stories on Facebook.
